Entering her first hair competition, Crystal Whitehead wins 1st place and takes home trophy with $500 at the Hair Klash Xtravaganza Hair & Beauty Trade Show on Sunday, September 20th, held at the Scottish Rite Temple in Oakland. The judges were looking for the stylist with the best precision hair cutting techniques. Out of 8 stylists with 7 women and 1 man, Crystal proved her skills in the weave competition in less than 30 minutes. The entry fee to participate in the competition was $50. Crystal was the only stylist from Sacramento and the others were from Oakland, Vallejo, Pittsburgh, and San Francisco.
Crystal recently became a certified educator of the BASiC Hair Care line after undergoing training in Atlanta in June. She travels and educates stylists on how to use the products of the BASiC Hair Care line. Crystal has been a licensed cosmetologist for 9 years. She is from Oakland but was raised in Sacramento since 6th grade and graduated from Sacramento City College’s cosmetology school. She has been in her own salon, Crystal’s Hair Salon, for the past year. Prior to working in her own salon, she worked at Another Look Hair Salon for 8 years.
