Raised in Sacramento with deep seated roots and born in East Palo Alto, California is Hip Hop Rap Artist SAREAL also known as Mother Goat. Sareal relocated to Los Angeles 5 years ago (from Miami where she lived for 2 years) chasing her music dreams to network and be closer to the recording studios of Hollywood producers. She has a resume of concert performances spanning across California. Sareal who has been hard on the grind working her Instagram (@officialsareal) and self producing her own music videos with professional assistance from friends she made in the industry who shoot her videos and provide beats for her music. Sareal is incredibly talented writing all her songs with putting out several albums in the past years.
Sareal has hit her highs and lows in the industry with facing many rejections when meeting and communicating with recording producers and has often been often disappointed but has refused to give up on her dreams of one day performing at Coachella and at the BET Awards. Most recently Sareal shared with Sac Cultural Hub that in October she entered a contest but was not feeling hopeful and was surprised just this week on Thursday, November 1st looking at her e-mail and noticed a note from adidas. She opened the e-mail and was shocked to see that she was selected as one of 12 ComplexCon semi-finalists. We went to the website to see Sareal’s name posted along with the following statement: These 12 local Los Angeles music creatives have advanced to the next round of the adidas Sound Labs grant and will sit down with Pusha T during ComplexCon 2018. Each will have the opportunity to convince Pusha T to advance them to the grant final round. Sareal revealed that adidas Sound Labs described her video entry as, “‘Facts’ is crazy, the flow is gorgeous, and we’re excited to see where you’re headed.” Headlining performances 2018 ComplexCon in Long Beach, California Nov 3-4 include Future and Tinashe and speakers, Issa Rae and Jaden Smith.
Sac Cultural Hub is so excited for Sareal as we have been following her for a very long time from when she peformed (back then as The Turf Chick) at the 2007 Hub Choice Awards in Sacramento in front of nearly 1,200 people. At 19-years old, she was featured in the June 2009 issue of THE HUB Magazine following her performance at Black Expo in Sacramento. Inspired by music icons Lil Kim, Messy Marv, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, and Eve, Sareal says her loyal fans best states her music as: “urban and underground hip-hop with a mix of hard-core bursting lyrics.”
In 2016 Sareal released a track with another Rising Artist in the Bay Area “Mike Sherm” the song “Low Budget“ reaching over 195,000 streams and is still growing. The song has landed on numerous Pandora stations and is for sale in all digital stores. “Her stage presence is crazy” stated a fan at a concert show at Club “Blue Lamp” in Sacramento.
Sareal’s fan base is huge and includes a host of family members with childhood nickname Gi Gi who was performing for her brothers, sisters and cousins when she was only 13 years old, rapping “I GO”, her first song recorded at a friend’s studio in South Sacramento. From then, Gi Gi became “The TURF Chick” to beloved fans and now known as Sareal and Mother Goat writing and rapping messages of hope, street life, and personal struggles.
As Sareal prepares for her one on one interview at ComplexCon, Pusha T will select his top 5 finalists On Sunday, 11/4 by 6 PM, who will advance to the final round and apply for the adidas sound labs grant. This is a BIG opportunity for Sareal and we – Sac Cultural Hub are rooting for her to WIN BIG!
