As you may already be aware, the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) will be conducting a shut down of Highway 99 starting Friday, June 11th.

CalTrans is scheduled to close northbound and southbound State Route 99 from 47th Avenue to the U.S. Highway 50 Connector from 8 p.m., Friday, June 11 until 4 a.m., through Wednesday, June 16.
While we understand the inconveniences this might cause to our daily lives, the closure is necessary for CalTrans to safely replace the bridge deck on SR-99 at 21st Avenue.

CalTrans recommends planning ahead and to expect delays and to consider alternative methods of transportation.

Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is providing free light rail service during the closure beginning June 12 through June 15. To ride light rail for free, riders must show the fare inspector a free-rider flyer, which is available at

Drivers will need to use Interstate 5 or the Free Light Rail Service during the 99-hour closure.
