The Greater Sacramento Urban League and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) are hosting a community forum on the death of Tyrone Smith while in the custody of the Sacramento Police Department. The event begins at 7 pm Wednesday, October 26th at GSUL Headquarters, 3725 Marysville Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95838.
Sacramento NAACP President Betty Williams and GSUL President/CEO David DeLuz will facilitate the forum. Representatives of the Sacramento Police Department will participate.
Members of our community have a number of concerns about this man’s death, coming as it did within an hour of being taken into police custody; and we look forward with great urgency to the results of the investigations now underway. This is a developing story with new information still coming to light.
The GSUL/Sacramento NAACP Community Forum on the Death of Tyrone Smith will provide the community an opportunity to hear directly from the authorities with the most current information available, and to voice your concerns on the matter. We invite you to attend and join us in what we hope will be a constructive dialogue.
