Then make sure to follow the hashtag #InTheBlack, which was recently launched through a partnership by BET Networks, HuffPost BlackVoices, Black Enterprise, Nielsen, National Association of Black Owned Newspaper Publishers Association, and approximately 20 other media and marketing companies to help encourage increased investments in the African-American consumer marketplace, while also helping companies reach the African-American audience more effectively.

According to an offical press release, African-Americans represent over 42 million consumers, product talkers and brand influencers with a buying power of nearly $1 trillion annually, and by 2015 African-American buying power is estimated to hit $1.2 trillion.
