The First 5 Sacramento Commission announced on March 5 it has approved a budget restoration plan for community-based services and programs to serve children, from birth to age 5, and their families, according to a press release issued by First 5 Sacramento.

The money will reportedly restore funding for programs and services such as parent education, crisis intervention, home visitation, and school-based programs including preschool classrooms, structured play groups, and family literacy services. The press release says additional funding was allocated to water fluoridation efforts and reducing the disproportionate number of deaths among African American infants.
