In using her wardrobe during these historic ceremonies to represent young Black talent who have made their values part of their brands, Harris may be setting a tone for her larger agenda over the next four years. She has a particularly powerful role as the tie-breaker in the U.S. Senate, which means she will have a heavy hand in making decisions about policies toward racial justice, women’s rights, and relief for communities hardest hit by coronavirus.
