Images Theatre Company is opening their new season, in collaboration with CA Black Health Network and presenting a new, original drama entitled, Livin’ Out Loud.

Livin’ Out Loud is developed by Lisa Lacy and Tico Wells, written by Lisa Lacy, directed by Thomas- Whit Ellis (Professor, Fresno State University and international directing credits) and features Ms. Lacy, (Sacramento’s award winning Artistic Director, Actress and Playwright of Images Theatre Company) and special guest star, Hawthorne James (Stage, Film and Television Celebrity, best known for his role as “Big Red” in the Robert Townsend classic film, The Five Heartbeats – see attached television and film bio).

Livin’ Out Loud is in-part, based on a true story, and speaks to the hearts of all who have ever encountered tragedy and sought healing. In Livin’ Out Loud we meet Lynzi Stevens, (played by Lisa Lacy), a therapist who is suffering from depression due to the recent, traumatic death of her beloved husband.  She has become despondent and isolated herself in her home and lost her will to live. Unwilling to let anyone help her, intervention comes from an unlikely source, named Sludge (played by Hawthorne James).

Through creative performances and story-telling, the audience journeys down the rabbit hole to gain a better understanding of such topics as grief, loss, recovery from substance abuse, and decreased spiritual and mental stability, and its’ effects on the human psyche. Livin’ Out Loud encourages all to look beyond the surface, and embrace our shared humanity, while challenging us to develop a deeper understanding of self, and move towards spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being in love, fearlessness, and truth.

After each performance, Images Theatre Company and the CA Black Health Network shall provide a no cost, informative and educational “Talk Back” with the audience about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Health Care and the current options that are available to Californians.
