ABC, facing sharp ratings declines this season, has ousted its programming chief Paul Lee, and replaced him with a development executive who will become the first African-American to hold that job at a major TV network.
Channing Dungey, named president of ABC Entertainment on Wednesday, was most recently executive VP of development for dramas, movies and miniseries, and helped shepherd series such as Scandal, Quantico and American Crime. She is a 12-year Disney veteran, having joined ABC Studios in 2004. (Her sister is actress Merrin Dungey).
