Tejano music legend and Grammy Award winning Jimmy Gonzalez of Grupo Mazz died Wednesday. He was 67.

Eloy Leija, a spokesman with Freddie Records, said Gonzalez suffered from diabetes and was at home when he had complications.

Gonzalez, a native of Brownsville, Texas, was taken to Methodist Hospital of San Antonio where he died.

“This is a big loss for all of us and for the Tejano industry,” Leija said. “He was a good friend, a good guy, a great father and musician.”

Funeral services are pending, Leija said.
