El Dorado County Animal Services is offering rabies vaccinations for cats and dogs at low-cost the first Tuesday of each month from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Placerville Animal Shelter, according to a press release.

The rabies vaccinations are only $6 each during these special monthly vaccination clinics. Dogs must be on a leash; cats must be in pet carriers.  Only cash or personal check will be accepted.

El Dorado County’s ordinance requires all dogs over the age of four months to be licensed with El Dorado County Animal Services and have a current rabies vaccination.  In addition to the monthly rabies vaccination clinics, Animal Services can microchip cats and dogs for only $25 on a walk-in basis during regular business hours.  The microchip, about the size of grain of rice, is placed just under the skin of the animal and helps identify the pet through a nationwide computer database if it is lost.

The Placerville Animal Shelter, located at 511 Placerville Drive in Placerville, is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to12:00 p.m. and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
