Mayor of Compton, Aja Brown
Sacramento, CA – The Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation (SCHMF) is thrilled to welcome Mayor of Compton, Aja Brown to Sacramento as the Keynote Speaker for the 9th annual Exceptional Women of Color (EWOC) Conference on Saturday, October 7th. The EWOC Conference will take place at the Dr. Ephraim Williams Family Life Center, 4036 14th Avenue in Sacramento, California. Registration and welcome to our exhibitors pavilion will begin at 8:30 am and the conference program will conclude at 2:30 pm.
“I continue to be excited and very impressed with our annual keynote presenter,” says Sac Cultural Hub Media Company and Foundation CEO Pleshette Robertson. “At just 31 years of age, Mayor Aja Brown is doing exemplary work that directly aligns with our conference theme of empowering women leaders and mentors. We are looking forward to hearing more about her life journey, lessons learned, steps taken to achieve success, and advice to our conference attendees.
Mayor Brown stated that she was thrilled to speak in our beautiful city. The Mayor visits Sacramento often. However, she has never had an opportunity to spend time with exceptional women and girls of color. Mayor Brown added “As a sister city to Los Angeles, we have much we can learn from each other, as we work together to build thriving communities across the state of California. For generations, women and girls of color have accomplished phenomenal work under the radar, but now is our time to celebrate and acknowledge each other.”
The EWOC Conference is an annual Sacramento tradition, recognizing women of color throughout Northern California for accomplishments in their communities and professions. Our honorees are women who unfortunately often go unrecognized for their endeavors. Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation utilizes this platform to annually shine a spotlight on these unsung yet deserving women with the presentation of the EWOC Excellence Awards. Attendees witness the paths these women have taken to open the door for more women to walk through as a future leader.
