The National Council of Negro Women, Inc., will posthumously celebrate the centennial birthday of Dr. Dorothy L. Height this Friday, March 23, from 12:30-2:30pm in Washington, DC.

Dr. Height was an American administrator, educator and social activist who passed away in April 2010 at the age of 98, according to Wikipedia.com. For 40 years she was president of the National Council of Negro Women, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1994 and the Congressional Gold Medal in 2004. Her other achievements include the formation of the African-American Women for Reproductive Freedom in 1990 and chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, according to Wikipedia.com.
