Thanksgiving is about a week away, and not everybody will be able to afford to buy all the fixings they need for a holiday meal. Thankfully (pun intended!) there’s a number of ways you can help community members in need have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) 5th Annual Turkey Drive
Friday, November 16, 4:30am – 7:00pm
SFFBS Oak Park facility – 3333 Third Ave (near 34th & Broadway)
Please drop off a frozen turkey or packaged side dishes on November 16 to help us serve families in need. Last year, residents donated 8,023 turkeys to this worthy cause. Please help us provide the ingredients for a holiday meal for thousands of local families. Volunteers from Papa Murphy’s, Wells Fargo and Save Mart will be on hand to thank donors and unload turkeys. Women’s Empowerment Thanksgiving Fixins Food Drive

Donate non-perishable food items to Women’s Empowerment for the Thanksgiving Fixins Food Drive and help provide a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal for a formerly homeless woman and her family. Women’s Empowerment will be collecting the following non-perishable food items: mashed potatoes , stuffing, pasta, canned yams, gravy, canned soup, cranberry sauce, heat and serve rolls, canned vegetables, pumpkin pie filling. Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services’ Turkey Distribution

A turkey and all of the wonderful Thanksgiving trimmings will be distributed to families in need starting at 8:00am. For Thanksgiving, SFBFS would like to see every family celebrate the holiday together with a meal. Several thousand families are expected to arrive for this one-day distribution.Volunteers from PG&E will be on hand to help distribute items. Families may not line up prior to 7am. Recipients are encouraged to arrive after noon as the line will be moving swiftly by then and a much
shorter wait time will occur. This is a one day only distribution. SFBFS does not provide a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day.
