Have a few extra hours a week and want to help shelter animals in Sacramento? Then Critter Outfitter wants you!

Retail pet supply and gift store Critter Outfitter is looking for volunteer sales clerks. Located inside the Sacramento County Animal Shelter, Critter Outfitter has an all-volunteer staff and is run by TEAM (Teaching Everyone Animals Matter). All proceeds raised go directly to benefit the Shelter’s animals.

Volunteer sales clerks assist customers, make sales, and help with all aspects of running a small pet supply store. Volunteers work with the public, many of whom have adopted shelter animals. Some hands-on contact with pets for fitting collars and the like can be expected.

Shifts available are Wednesday, Thursday or Friday from 12:30-3 pm or 3-5:30 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 12-2:15 pm or 2:15-4:30 pm. Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of two shifts per month. New volunteers are paired with experienced workers to receive training.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old; retirees are especially encouraged to apply. To apply, fill out an application at Critter Outfitters inside the Sacramento County Animal Shelter, 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento, CA 95827.

TEAM (Teaching Everyone Animals Matter) is the nonprofit support group for the Sacramento County Department of Animal Care and Regulation. TEAM assists the shelter with fundraising and community education, makes spay/neuter services available to the pets of low-income residents, and funds specialized veterinary care for shelter animals in need.
