The Sacramento Chapter of Black Woman Organized for Political Action (BWOPA) will honor Sac Cultural Hub Media Company CEO and Founder Pleshette Robertson at their Ella Hill Hutch Awards Reception on November 2 in Oakland.

Robertson will reportedly be honored for her years of support of the BWOPA Sacramento Chapter. “It is my honor as well as Sacramento’s honor to have a woman who has provided so much information, inspiration, and giving to the community and Women of color,” says Margaret Mack of the BWOPA Sacramento Chapter in a written statement.

Robertson began Sac Cultural Hub Media Company in 2001, starting with a four-page newsletter, which in 2002 transformed into the website, Sacculturalhub.com, celebrating the urban lifestyle for African-Americans in the capital region. In 2003, Robertson founded the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation to develop and implement programs that educate, empower, and train young adults and women of color in underserved communities. And in 2006, Robertson started The HUB magazine.

Robertson has received numerous community awards throughout the years, including the 2012-2013 UC Davis Chancellor’s Achievement Awards For Diversity and Community in the Community Award category, and the 2009-2010 Business Award in November 2009 from the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.

The Ella Hill Hutch Awards Reception will take place Saturday, November 2, from 6pm-9pm at Holy Names University, Bay Vista Hall, 3500 Mountain Blvd., in Oakland. Tickets are $55 per person online and at the door.
