The Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission is looking for ways to fix a statue of abolitionist Sojourner Truth that was found vandalized and broken in January, according to an article on SacBee.com.
The statue by African-American artist Elizabeth Catlett Mora reportedly sat for 15 years by the south patio of the Sacramento Convention Center at 13th and K Streets until it was pushed to the ground, causing it to break. The statue is now in a warehouse as the Commission figures out how to best restore the sculpture, which could take several months and cost about $20,000.
