One of the greatest places to visit, hangout, read, network and socialize is at Underground Books located in the heart of historic Oak Park – Sacramento. It is integrated within a larger entity, the 23,000 square foot
multi-use 40 Acres Art Gallery and Cultural Center, located at 35th Street and Broadway in Oak Park, Sacramento, and consisting of a performing arts facility, an art gallery, a coffee shop and twelve apartments.

The bookstore houses hundreds of African American books that include novels, short stories, biographies and more by local and national authors. Book signings and several events held at Underground Books throughout the week all year.

“I have been going to Underground Books for a few years. The store stocks an impressive collection of multi-cultural lit (fiction and nonfiction), with an emphasis on AA titles.  Best of all, Underground hosts lit readings and author events every weekend. Mother Rose is awesome, she will help you order out of stock books, and you’ll leave convinced that you’ve just met your new best friend.” Michelle W. from Arcata, CA
