Founder of Sacculturalhub.com, Pleshette Robertson, gets to know more about the mission and activities of “ERI” in the Greater Sacramento Valley Region.
1) 3 words that best describe you, Kerri, as the CEO: Confident, Tenacious, Resilient
2) Who are the majority of your clients? Young women
3) Where do you see yourself 10 years from now in your business? Within the next five years, I would like to see ERI provide programs and services for women of all ages. Ten years from now, we should have reached that goal, additionally open ERI chapters across the U.S.
4) Tell us briefly the mission and purpose of your organization: Our mission is to inspire girls to aspire. ERI empowers young women to believe in themselves and know that everyone has limitless opportunities in life. We inspire girls to dream, hope, dare, live, laugh, soar, and aspire for greatness and influence her community.
5)In your own words please tell us how your organization serves the community and why you started the organization: After volunteering in the community for almost ten years, I was personally convicted to respond to the need I was seeing with the girls I came in contact with. I felt that my volunteer efforts in juvenile hall, half-way homes, and the boys and girls clubs was not enough. My volunteerism in Orlando, Florida and locally here in Sacramento, CA prepared me to start ERI where we offer preventive programming to young women 8-18 years of age. I started ERI after working with troubled girls and reading horrifying statistics. Some recent statistics that I have read indicate that the average age of girls loosing their virginity is 15, and according to other sources, more and more girls are having sex at school. Another study showed that the rate of girls committing suicide is increasing, while other studies are showing more girls are taking prescription medication and drugs to numb the pain to deal with personal issues. Our program goals are to reduce these findings in our local community while empowering young women to create social change.
6) Tell us about some of the past activities and what you have planned in the future for ERI: We are very excited about the project our GEMS leadership has been working on since last April. The girls are creating a docuganda that will look at how low self-esteem ties into risky behaviors and the influence of the media in this epidemic. The project which is due this Spring is entitled, Past the Surface. The girls have created a trailer for the film which can be viewed on youtube and on our website at www.erigirls.org, which also has additional information on the past, current, and future projects from our girls.

Don’t bank on the “Bailout”! No matter what your age, what type of job you have, or where you live, YOU need to start the “20% rule of thumb!” Start saving 20% of your income now… straight of the top! Take control of your personal and business finances immediately. In the “New Era of Change”, The Founder of Sacculturalhub.com, Pleshette Robertson, will be striving to make changes to streamline her own SPENDING habits and INVESTING in saving 20% of my personal and business income. Your financial future depends on taking care of YOU, the welfare of your family, and the affairs of your business. How do you spend wisely? You first need to ESTABLISH a budget for home expenses and business expenses and KEEP them very separate! When you start accumulating your savings, YOU DON’T TOUCH IT and that means even if you run out of gas or have to miss a meal. For those of you who do not have a savings account, GET ONE, and keep it separate from your personal checking and business checking accounts. Create an action plan that includes:
3) Sit down with a financial planner (seek out free resources in the community) to review your spending patterns (this can be done easily by saving every receipt of expense and writing down everything you spend), and discuss your retirement savings plan and/or college savings plans
3) Quit complaining about bills, open them and try to pay them on time, partially if necessary every month.
4) Keep a file on everything and start a file cabinet of financial essentials
5) Calculate your self and/or business net wor th (total assets minus total liabilities of an individual or a company)
As most or some of us have been in some way effected by the “World Economic Crisis”, we must take advantage and utilize the basic/general and free resources at hand and in the backyard of our community. See Community Resources Lists posted at www.211sacramento.org.
