In anticipation of the impending grand jury decision in Ferguson, MO, we the NAN-Oakland Chapter are joining forces with any other NAN Chapters nationally to stand in solidarity for the verdict of the Michael Brown hearing. We will be hosting a peaceful rally with a two-fold purpose. We want to ensure that while attending this event, other gatherers are peaceful and provide moral support for the local community. If there is a victory with an indictment on Officer Darren Wilson, we will be praying that Justice Be Served. If there is not an indictment we will be praying for peace for our city!
The main purpose of this rally is to NOT react with harm to our city by the ultimate decision of the verdict, but for us to come together as a city to encourage the Ferguson Police Department as well as our own to be accountable, and most importantly to be civil to all citizens in spite of their race, color or creed. We are asking you to join us at 1225 Fallon Street. The day and time is still being determined. Please pay attention to your local media outlets to learn the day of the verdict. NAN – Oakland will plan to gather post verdict. We know that without the voice of the people, nothing will ever change. We want to be peaceful while bringing awareness to the tragedies that continue to exist within our country.
